Tour Description
On this weekly small-group architecture tour we dive into both ‘Old and New’ Berlin. We look at how the city grew from a swamp into a major metropolis, how it was divided and how it came back together again.
Whether you’re a design professional, a student or a general architecture enthusiast, this tour takes you on a deep dive into Berlin’s history and the architecture that emerged as a result. Drawing on my own knowledge as a former architect, I’ll show you some of the city’s defining buildings and design movements, from stark, utilitarian Communist buildings through to cutting-edge buildings shaping Berlin’s modern skyline.
Through the lens of architecture, you’ll discover the relationship between Berlin’s history and urban environment, unravelling how events, politics, and ideas have shaped Berlin’s structure, form, and appearance.
